SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Irvington's Competitive Science Club
WHAT IS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD?
Science Olympiad allows students to cross-train for 23 team events covering various topics of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. Unlike other STEM competitions, Science Olympiad places an emphasis on active, hands-on group participation. In addition to knowledge-based tests that assess students' abilities to retain information and mathematically analyze data, build events offer competitors the chance to perform experiments and engineer unique devices. With each event allowing two to three participants, Science Olympiad promotes student teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration.
With exciting competitive tournaments at the regional, state, and national levels, Science Olympiad creates numerous opportunities for students to develop and showcase practical, subject-matter expertise in STEM, paving the way for future careers in pre-health, engineering, research, and more.

ABOUT IHS SCIOLY
Ever since it was established in 2015, Irvington Science Olympiad has ranked among the top five Division C teams in Northern California, qualifying for the States Tournament six times and amassing hundreds of awards. In addition to providing our members the chance to learn and showcase innovative STEM content, our club serves as an environment for like-minded individuals to forge lifetime friendships and bonds. We also support STEM education in our community by serving as mentors for elementary and middle school Science Olympiad teams and by organizing the Nordic Invitational, the only Science Olympiad invitational tournament to be held in the Fremont area. Through our numerous service and leadership opportunities, our members have been able to develop and practice valuable real-world skills. As such, many of our alumni have gone on to great institutions and successful careers in STEM.

Irvington Science Olympiad consists of two teams, each having 15 members. With our Azure Team serving as a varsity team and our White Team the junior varsity team, IHS SciOly fosters a collaborative apprentice and mentoring system that provides its newer members with the experience and skillset they need to continue our club's legacy.
